PTA Day at the Capitol, Spring Conference, and elections – this issue is all about events! Show up, make a difference.
From the Desk of John Martin, District 10 DirectorA lot goes into planning an event. And having hosted my fair share of these, I can say that the number one concern is usually turnout – will they show up? First, we have PTA Day at the Capitol on February 25. We will gather at 9 AM at the Fulton County Government Center Assembly Hall, 141 Pryor Street, Atlanta, then head over to the Capitol building. There are bills that we support, bills that we oppose. The only way that legislators know how to vote is if we tell them. Please wear red that day. Register here, the price of admission includes lunch. Save the date for our Spring Conference, Brunch and Bash. Start by connecting with our brunch provider – The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc. (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.). They are looking to partner with you. And last, but certainly not least, are elections. We have a presidential primary coming up soon, and you need to be registered ahead of time in order to vote. Three years ago the balance of power in the Virginia legislature hinged on drawing a name out of a hat to resolve a tie. Every vote counts, don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. See our sidebar for important dates and deadlines. Voting is free, while the costs of not voting are enormous. For ALL the children, thank you for being there when they need you most,
John Martin |
